Professionals serving children of all ages depend on a strong and positive working relationship with a child’s primary caregiver. As providers, a deeper appreciation of family dynamics and issues can heighten the likelihood of a successful partnership that results in optimal outcomes for children and families that are better able to cope.
During this three-hour workshop participants will consider the aspects of creating a positive partnership through discussion and group activity. Content includes a review of the characteristics of positive parent/professional partnerships, consideration of personal family culture and experiences, and participation in a guided family sculpture with a family member from the community. The workshop will heighten participants’ awareness of family issues and explore some practical strategies for promoting successful family/professional partnerships.
